I began painting with acrylics at 38, after carrying the wish to paint since childhood. GALI ART grew from that decision: to make room for curiosity, nature and the pleasure of creating, without waiting to feel ready.
A beginning does not need a perfect age
For years, painting belonged to the part of my life I imagined rather than lived. I wanted to paint as a child, but it was at 38 that I finally picked up a brush and made space for that wish. The decision was personal: I wanted to spend time doing something I loved.
Starting painting as an adult can feel like arriving late to a conversation. My own beginning taught me to question that feeling. There was no deadline attached to the joy of making something. I could begin with the experience I already had, while allowing myself to be completely new to the paint.
Curiosity before perfection
I work with acrylics. Landscapes, changing light and the small details of nature keep drawing my attention. Living in the Dominican Republic has shaped the way I notice the world around me, and painting has given those observations somewhere to go.
My Instagram began as a record of discovery: finished work, experiments, mistakes and the ordinary moments between them. A photograph of a painting shows one result. The studio video below reveals something equally valuable — the repeated, patient act of returning to a canvas.

Learning to be a beginner
In the Reel, I wrote about the courage it takes to try before you are good at something. That thought remains close to the heart of GALI ART. The brush moves across an autumn landscape; one small mark joins another. Progress is visible as an action, rather than a promise of sudden confidence.
If my story offers encouragement, it is this: you can take your interest seriously without demanding a perfect result from the first attempt. I did not begin with a finished artistic identity. I began with a desire to paint, and the work gradually gave that desire a visible form.
What I hope these paintings offer
Painting has become a way of paying attention — to a warm colour, a reflection, a feeling that is difficult to put into words. I share the results because I hope someone else might recognise something of their own wish to create.
